Budget 2026 Updates: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to present her ninth consecutive Budget at 11 am
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to present the Union Budget for the financial year 2026-27 in Parliament today.
This will be her record ninth consecutive Budget on the back of fragile trade conditions and heightened global uncertainty.
Government sources told CNBC-TV18 on Saturday, January 31, that the Finance Minister is set to make changes to the traditional structure of the Budget presentation, as Part B of the speech is expected to get special attention.
Markets will remain open today on Budget Day, which is a Sunday. Both NSE and BSE are operating at regular trading hours.
Participants are heading into this year's Budget with muted expectations, a possible relief in long-term capital gains, while they have also been urging the Centre to refrain from hiking transaction taxes.
Investors and the industry are closely tracking sectoral allocations for the financial year 2027, measures aimed to boost export competitiveness, income tax policy, and foreign trade diversification.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the Budget's focus should be on "reform, perform and transform" and the Centre will be looking at "long-term solutions" for "long-term pending problems
